It’s 1930s London and everyone’s favourite nanny has returned – Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) is ready to spread joy and magic in the much-anticipated sequel to the 1964 classic. This time, she finds that the Banks children have grown up and found themselves in need of a friendly face – as well as a little bit of magic. A Disney musical and sequel starring Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Ben Wishaw, along with Dick Van Dyke, Emily Mortimer, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep.

Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) has a habit of turning up when she’s least expected – and when she’s needed the most.

And that’s exactly what happens on a particularly stormy day in 1930s London.

Jane Banks (Emily Mortimer) and her brother Michael (Ben Whishaw) are all grown up. But times are hard in Depression-era Britain, and, Jane, Michael, and Michael’s three children are heavy with sadness, reeling from the recent death of the children’s mother. To make matters worse, Michael is struggling to pay the bills and is at risk of losing their home.

Which is why they’re so glad when, at the very house where it all began on Cherry Tree Lane, Michael and Jane’s former nanny returns.

The Daneside Theatre

Daneside Theatre is an independent theatre with a charitable status that aims to provide a venue for the community that all ages can benefit from.

The 300-seat theatre is located just on the edge of the town centre near the leisure centre. It is the home of various amateur groups as well as being available to hire for shows. The original theatre built in the 1980s has been extended. The extension has rehearsal rooms, scenery store and provides better access and facilities for all theatre users.

These facilities enable shows of all types to be staged, from plays to musicals, films to dance shows. pantomimes to concerts. So we aim to have during our season something to all tastes.
